Modern And Artistic Bindings
Since 1900, Harcourt Bindery has prided itself not only on the high quality of its leather workmanship, but also on its ability to design unique and special decorations.

From the Art Nouveau onlay binding on the Walt Whitman book shown above, to a more contemporary look on the Graduale Aboense (shown on the right), Harcourt Bindery has been in the forefront of binding styles (both books have been featured in recent bookbindings exhibits.) |
|
Shown below are bindings for Poe's The Raven and Lady Chatterly's Lover, both now in private collections.

Harcourt Bindery also was one of the intial pioneers in developing the so-called Book Wall, where the spines of a set of books are used as a small canvas to convey an overall design.
Shown here is Hardy's Tess of the D'Ubervilles with a portrayal of Stonehenge overlapping three spines.

Harcourt Bindery has one of the largest collections of tools and stamping dies, and the staff is skilled in their use. We are capable of not only producing bindings which replicate the past, but as can be seen, we can create unique bindings for your library or a special gift. We have designed for Heads of State, publishers of special limited editions, private collectiors and corporate boards.
